Who We Are and How We Work
We are a small, independent editorial team based in the United Kingdom. No casino network owns us. No affiliate programme directs our recommendations. We built this site because we got tired of reading “reviews” that were clearly written by people who had never deposited a single pound at the casinos they were recommending. We decided to do it properly.
Every casino you read about on independentcasinosuk.it.com has been tested with real money, by real people, through the full player journey — registration, verification, deposit, gameplay, withdrawal, and support contact. If a site makes it onto our recommended list, it is because it earned its place. If it failed any part of that process, you will read exactly why.
We cover the independent casino space specifically because it is underserved by honest coverage. Large network brands have enormous PR budgets. Standalone and independent casinos are often judged by the same template regardless of whether that template fits. We write for UK players who want clarity, not noise.
Our Mission
Our mission is straightforward: give UK players the most accurate, transparent, and genuinely useful information about independent online casinos available anywhere on the web. Not the prettiest infographic. Not the biggest bonus claim. The truth.
That means we publish negative findings when we find them. We report slow withdrawals as slow withdrawals. We flag weak responsible gambling tooling. We call out confusing bonus terms. If a casino’s customer support took four hours to respond to a simple query, that detail goes in the review — not into a footnote.
We believe the gambling industry’s credibility problem is partly a media problem. Too many “review” sites function as glorified sign-up funnels. We are not that. Our only obligation is to the person reading this page.
Meet the Team
James Hartley – Lead Reviewer & Editor
James has worked in and around the UK gambling industry for over a decade — first as a compliance consultant for a mid-tier operator, then as an independent researcher covering licensing trends, player protection frameworks, and bonus regulation. He joined this project at its founding because he wanted to apply that regulatory knowledge in a format accessible to ordinary players, not just industry insiders.
James leads our casino audit process. He is responsible for verifying UKGC licence status, cross-referencing operator ownership through Companies House and the UKGC public register, and assessing responsible gambling tools against the standards set out in the Social Responsibility Code of Practice. He has a particular focus on withdrawal reliability — he considers it the single most meaningful indicator of how an operator actually treats players.
Outside of casino research, James follows UK gambling legislation closely. He considers the 2005 Gambling Act and its subsequent amendments required reading for anyone writing about this space seriously.
Daniel Okafor – Payments & Game Specialist
Daniel came to this project from a background in fintech and digital payments, which gives him an unusually sharp eye for the parts of the casino experience most reviewers gloss over: how quickly funds actually land in your account, how clearly refusal reasons are communicated, and where friction points in the KYC process tend to cluster.
He runs all real-money deposit and withdrawal tests across the sites we cover, documenting processing times with timestamps and comparing them to stated operator turnarounds. He also oversees our game content assessments — cataloguing software providers, reviewing RTP transparency, checking whether volatility and game weighting information is accurately disclosed in bonus terms.
Daniel is a particular advocate for no-wager and low-wagering bonus formats, and has written extensively about the gap between advertised and effective bonus value at many UK-facing sites.
Our Independence
We are not affiliated with any casino operator, network, or software provider. We do not accept payments in exchange for favourable reviews, adjusted ratings, or the suppression of negative findings. We do not participate in referral schemes that reward us based on how many players we send to a given site.
We are aware that affiliate revenue is a common funding model in this industry. We have made a deliberate choice to operate outside that model because we believe it structurally compromises honest editorial output. A site that earns more when you sign up to Casino X will — consciously or not — write more generously about Casino X.
Our running costs are covered independently of casino operator relationships. The reviews you read here reflect our actual findings, unfiltered.
